home made hydroponic system.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED....

1.  First you need a space in your home whether it be the basement, a spare room, a closet, the attic.            If you going to do the clones yourself you  will need two rooms or a separate area boxed in and light tight.

2.  You will need a  reflective  wall cover.    (we bought ours on ebay)

3.  timers

4.  tubs for growing (we bought our tubs at walmart, 28 quart with lids online store you can buy them      for like $55.00 for 10..  you want to make sure there is no holes in the tubs some have wheels and        have holes where they are connected to the tube)

5.  grow lights  (400 watt sodium for budding, and we used fluorescent with grow bulbs for the clone and      mother plants

6.  bubble stones  (at walmart  the long stones are the best)

7.  air pump for hydroponics  (amazon.com)

 8. air tubes  (amazon.com)

9.   fans

10. fertilizer    (we used Botanicare products)

11.  solo cups

12.  hydroponic medium (there are many different types)

13.  hooks

14. if you can't find dark tubs using clear tubs will work but you will need black paint to paint the lid and tub on the outside.

this is a picture of the darker tub, but using this size waste a lot of fertilizer

Stone bubbler

this air pump can service two tubs you can buy one that does even more tubs

Oscillating fan

left picture is the clay stones, right picture is the rock wool.  I like to start the seeds in the rock wool then move the rock wool with plant in it to the solo cup with the stones.

You going to cut out holes in the lid of the tub.   Depending on the size tub you go with, you will want to put 4 to 6 holes    you want the hole big enough to fit the solo cups in so the roots touch the water

put holes in the solo cups    with we used a woodburning tool to put the holes in the cup, if you using the clay stones for media make sure the holes are smaller then the stones.

Hook the air tube to the bubble stone, (put on the bottom of the tub) the other side to the air pump,   fill the tub with water you will want to know how many gallons you are using for measurement of the fertilizer, measure your fertilizer and add to the tub, put you clones in the lid holes.

The fan will be used in the budding room.  This helps pollinate you Vegetables.

Hang the lights above the tubs (one light will usually work for three tubs).  You will want the lights hung by a change so as the plants grow you can higher the lights.

You can put the tubs on a table for easier access, no bending over.  Place the fan on low on the table facing the plants.

in the future I will elaborate more on the care of the plants.
